A temporary injection schedule: vacations, flights and changes in routine
In GrowTracker, a “Temporary schedule” sets a different time for the growth hormone injection for a date range of up to 60 days, with its own reminder to take the pen out of the fridge. The reminders of everyone following the child move to the new times, and after the last day the usual times come back by themselves.
For a vacation, a flight or a week with a different routine
On vacation the family stays up late, a flight falls right at injection time, or one week there's an event in the evening. Instead of changing the usual times and remembering to change them back, you set a temporary schedule for those days only.
GrowTracker doesn't decide when to inject: you choose the time on those days, as you were instructed.
How to set it up
In Settings → Time Settings, on the “Temporary schedule” card, tap “Add a temporary schedule” and fill in:
- From and Until (inclusive): up to 60 days in a row. The first day can be today or any day in the coming year.
- Injection time on these days.
- Minutes before the injection to take the pen out: when the pen-out reminder arrives on those days.
- Note (optional), for example “Family vacation”.
Before you save, a summary appears: how many days, what time the injection is and when to take the pen out, and from which date you go back to the usual time. You can set several temporary schedules on different dates, as long as they don't overlap.
What happens on those days
From the moment you save, all the reminders for those days move to the new times: taking the pen out, injection time and “Injection not marked yet”. The change applies to the child, and so to everyone following the child, not only to whoever set it.
The injection card on the home screen shows “Vacation mode until”, with the last day and the injection time. In a family with several children, the “Tonight” card shows “Vacation until” and the date next to the child. If the other parent's home screen is open, it updates at once, with a message saying who set the change.
After the last day, the usual times come back by themselves, with nothing to change back. A day whose injection was already marked keeps its times, and the days on the temporary schedule are kept in the injection log as usual.
Change it or end it early
Once a temporary schedule has started, you can change the last day, the times and the note. With “End now” you choose between “End after today” (tonight's injection is still at the temporary time, and tomorrow you're back to the usual time) and “Back to the usual time today”. A temporary schedule that hasn't started yet can simply be deleted.
Who sees it and who changes it
The parent who manages the child, a co-parent and the child's own login can set a temporary schedule, edit it and end it, and each temporary schedule shows who set it. More about inviting the other parent on the sharing between parents page.
Who it helps
- For parents: you set it once, and both parents get the reminders at the vacation times.
- For teens who inject on their own: the reminders on their phone move to the new times, and go back to the usual ones without them having to remember.
On all other days, the daily reminders work at the usual times. More about GrowTracker on the features page, and short answers in the FAQ.
Questions about the temporary schedule
What happens after the last day?
After the last day of a temporary schedule, the usual times come back by themselves, with their reminders, and there's nothing to change back.
How long can a temporary schedule last?
A temporary schedule can last up to 60 days in a row. You can set it up to a year ahead, and also set several on different dates, as long as they don't overlap.
Will the other parent get the reminders at the new times?
The other parent gets the reminders at the new times, because the change applies to the child and to everyone following the child. Each person gets the reminders they chose for themselves.
Can I end a temporary schedule early?
A temporary schedule that has already started can be ended with “End now”: after tonight's injection, or already today. One that hasn't started yet can be deleted.
Does GrowTracker recommend what time to inject on vacation?
GrowTracker doesn't recommend an injection time: it reminds you at the time you set. What time to inject on those days follows the instructions you were given.
